Polyester rugs are popular due to their soft feel, high durability, and easy-care properties. Polyester is a synthetic fiber that is both tough and resistant to stains, making the rugs particularly suitable for families with children, pet owners, and rooms with high activity. The material has a natural luster that gives the rug a nice shine, and the colors remain clear and intense over time.
If you have a shaggy rug, it can be more challenging to clean deeply since vacuuming doesn't always remove all dirt. We recommend taking the rug out and shaking it occasionally to remove dirt; otherwise, there's a risk that dirt will wear down the fiber, which in turn reduces the rug's luster and quality over time.
Our rugs have a backing designed to provide good grip and stability. On certain types of flooring – especially newly lacquered, newly oiled, or delicately surface-treated wooden floors – chemical reactions may sometimes occur that can affect the floor surface. To avoid this, we recommend always using a protective underlay and following the flooring manufacturer’s recommendations. Also ensure that any floor treatments have fully cured before placing the rug.
How do I best care for my polyester rug?
To extend the lifespan of your polyester rug, we recommend:
Vacuum as needed to keep the rug fresh and free from dust and dirt. Use low to medium suction and avoid rotating brushes on rugs with a longer pile.
Protect against prolonged direct sunlight if you want to minimize any fading over time. Even though polyester is generally more sun-resistant than many natural materials, there's still a risk that the fibers will fade. Air the rug outdoors occasionally to freshen it up, but avoid strong direct sunlight. Avoid beating the rug, as it can damage the material. Note that a polyester rug may shed excess material from production. This is common initially and decreases over time. Rotate the rug regularly to achieve more even wear and preserve its appearance longer.
How do I wash my polyester rug?
In case of spills, dab gently with a light, uncolored cloth. Avoid rubbing the stain to prevent permanent damage to the fibers. If you're unsure how to handle a stain, we recommend contacting us via our contact form before starting the cleaning process. Please include pictures of the entire rug and the stains so we can assist as effectively as possible. You should always follow the washing instructions that come with the rug, but there are general tips on how to proceed:
Use mild soap and lukewarm water for light cleaning. Dab gently with a cloth/terry towel. Avoid rubbing! Absorb the liquid with an absorbent cloth. Smaller rugs can be hand-washed; if so, they should be washed on a cold program with mild detergent, and avoid spinning. Avoid strong chemicals that can affect the color or structure of the rug. Let it dry flat. For deeper cleaning, we recommend professional rug cleaning, especially for larger stains or general freshening up. Note that we are not responsible if you seek assistance from a third party for cleaning the rug.
Polyester rugs are a perfect choice if you're looking for an easy-care, durable, and affordable rug that fits in every room of the home.
