There are two main approaches to choosing the color and pattern for a carpet under a dining table.
- A carpet in a light color that is easy to wash.
- A patterned carpet with colors that hide stains.
THE SHAPE AND SIZE OF A CARPET UNDER THE DINING TABLE
When deciding on the shape and size of the carpet under your dining table, you must consider what your dining table looks like. Keep this in mind when choosing an under-dining table carpet:
The shape of your carpet should match the shape of your dining table, i.e. a rectangular carpet for a rectangular table, a round carpet for a round table and a square carpet for a square table.
Whatever the shape of your table, make sure to add 60 centimeters in all directions around the table. This allows the chairs to be pulled out and pushed in without moving the edge of the carpet. Also, go for a larger carpet rather than a smaller one. This will help the carpet either tie the room together or create zones in a larger room. In this way, the carpet helps you to create a smaller room within a larger room.
A larger carpet is usually more expensive, and sometimes you can choose a smaller carpet just because of the price. However, think of the carpet as an investment as valuable as your dining table. So choose the right size from the start and buy your carpet from an affordable retailer.
THE MATERIAL OF THE CARPET UNDER THE DINING TABLE
For a carpet to be used under the kitchen table, the material is important as it is more exposed to wear and tear than a carpet under the dining table. For a carpet under a dining table, you can choose pretty much any material. However, it can be a good idea to choose a carpet that you can either wipe or flip, such as a kelim carpet. Even if you place it under a dining table and there is not a lot of wear and tear, it may still get stained.
However, the kitchen is a highly exposed space, whatever carpet you choose. So when it comes to a carpet under the kitchen table, it may be a good idea to choose a carpet in one of the following materials:
Plastic (can be cleaned with a mop or cloth)
However, if you buy a carpet at a reasonable price, the price doesn't matter as much and rather stains can give you the opportunity to update your carpet more frequently.
